How To Make A Marketing Plan

A detailed marketing plan is needed for each business, product or brand.
Here are the main contents of a Marketing Plan.

Executive Summary: In this summary it is briefly described about the main goals and recomendations of the plan which helps the top management to to find the major plan quickly.

Situation Analysis (Current marketing situation): This describes the company's position which includes information about the market, product performance, competition and distribution.

Threats And Opportunities analysis: Analyse threats and opportunites the product might face.

Objectives: The company's objectives, which it likes to attain during the plan's term, would be listed.

Marketing Strategy: This should include at least a mission statement, objectives, and focused strategy including market segment focus and product positioning

Action Programs: The action programs should be done after making the marketing strategies. i-e the company must consider these questions that what will be done? when it will be done?what will be the cost?who will do it etc.

Expense Budget: This ought to include enough detail to track expenses month by month and follow up on plan-vs.-actual analysis. Normally a plan will also include specific sales tactics, programs, management responsibilities, promotion, and other elements.

Controls: After implementing the strategy, the company should be able to control the downsizing products which are not meeting their goals.

This plan is essential for both large corporate marketing departments and for startup companies.
