Obama on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" had widened his path into the world of critical domain as he began to build his celebrity-infused political portfolio. The two Chicago celebrities have turned a passing acquaintance from the city's social circles into a powerful friendship with national implications. As a marketer, Oprah's power lies in being able to make her recommendations seem very friendly.

very true Oprah is one ov those ppl who can make ppl belive wat tyey say.she has such a convinceing power that when i used to watch her shows i used found her words prophetic and i think its one ov very basic elements ov marketing any thing that is to make ur targeted audience belive wat u want them to belive.

And using celebrities to market your market is perhaps the most widely used technique ever.. We have celebrities being specially paid to use a certain product in not only commercials but also in public. like Brad Pitt with his Armani, or Tom Hanks wearing a rolex.. But these are just the costing products.
During the last American election we had marketing being done by Britney Spears, Jewel, Akon and Puff Daddy by both Obama and McCain.
So the method is effective if its being done by the right person. In this case, Operah proved to be a very powerful weapon.
