AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

I've often seen most of my friends on campus getting concerned about two things..... a) which majors they should choose....b) which career would be suitable for them.

As sir Mannan rightly said in the first few classes that now is the right time to seriously start thinking about what we all want to do in future. Some of us are quite sure about their future plans....while others like me are still thinking....and confused. Our minds say somethng else....our parents say smthng entirely different.......and ofcourse all those friends,cousins and relatives who keep on showering us with their "wise advices".

"Ye karna....wo mat karna"
"Is ka scope hai.....os ka nai hai"....etc....etc!

At the end of the day....after listening to countless opinions....we're back to square 1.....that is.....CONFUSED!

I woke up this morning and according to the usual routine skimmed through DAWN and realized that the articles in today's Advertisement Supplement "TOP 10 CARRERS IN PAKISTAN" are an Eye Opener. Rozee.pk......a popular website that acts as a recruiting platform for thousands of job seekers around the country.....has conducted a survey revealing Pakistan's hottest career tracks. Most importantly they've given the growth potential of different careers in the coming 5 YEARS!!!

If you dont have the newspaper....then please get hold of today's edition....Its a must read thing...

I would strongly recommend it to all those ***friends*** with whom I often have discussions regarding our choice of Majors and career scope in Pakistan...

After you all read we can have a discussion either on the blog or in the university.

Hm! Good post and its time for us all to think about our Majors and the field we have to choose to specialize.Fiza u r so proactive.

Well! This was actually we all were worried about.How to choose,why to choose,whats the scope of the field we'll choose etc..
Furthermore, this type of post is really interesting to discuss something important rather than posting irrelevant articles.

Ok I did not read Dawn News yet, but I have searched rozee.pk website and found out that most of the jobs are related to business management and computers(majority of them were of software development). Now regarding my majors I already made up my mind before coming to FCC that I want to do it in accounting and finance.

Well at the end it does not really matter which field has the most demand all it matters is what are you really interested in. If you have a passion for any field of subject then go for it and Inshallah you will be successful in it. And also earn alot of money.

So, I would like to ask you people what is your field of interest?

By now you all must have decided it.

Couldn't get a copy toady, was sleeping when the paper was dropped at my place. However I also visited rozee.pk & found exactly what Noman said.

However, if u bring the article ill be able to read it & then we can have a discussion on the blog because I think I know what type of detailed discussion u r reffering too..

P.S I tried to get a copy of the article on the net but failed.

hey Fiz..thanx for informing us all abt this good stuff :)

i've got the newspaper n i read it too.. it highlights some useful stuff that we all should know by now...i have been always interest in project managemt but i didnt know that how good would the specialization in it be .. i just read it today !

i'd also bring the supplement to college on monday so that we can discuss it with those who havent read it yet :)

I have got that page with me and about to post the new post. Then i saw yours (fizza). It is really very surprised specially about. We shall discuss about it on monday. It is very important for us to decide today about our fields and jobs availablity.

Fizza i have some questions regaeding this topic.

1) As far as highest paid people are concerned, they 're less satisfied...why?
2) How could one get highest paid where there is more competition, more people in the same field.(as in the case of marketing and brand management. Entry level: 20,000-52,000 but they 're highly paid)

Fizza thanx for being an eye-opener for all of us. I really had been a bit unsatisfied about my plan of majoring in acf.With the statistics shown by rozee.pk, I really have got substance to justify my desire for having marketing as a major.

Good questions Hamed.I can answer them for u.
1) Highly paid jobs are mostly related to marketing and people are dissatisfied with marketing profession bcz, as people of marketing and sales, they are always under pressure from other departments regarding sales and market share(unless u r a marketer in a growing MNC).And whenever sales go down everybody points fingers at mrktng and sales people.so being in the field 365 days a year and continuously worrying about sales targets would make any normal person go crazy irrespective of the salary.

2)Well there may be more people in this field but the demand for experienced mrktng people is the greatest.A small firm can cope up with one or two accountants to maintain its records but they do need atleast 10 people to market their product or service.
