Marketing without even mentioning the WORD BUY!!!

That is a very nice & on the spot observation Fizza. I am a subscribed customer of Herald & despite the fact that its 95% material is all serious n political half of its bulk is made up of full pages dedicated to advertisements of different companies.

Also I think that advertisement is not just strong in the manner that you have explained & the example I quoted. In the same magazine that I just mentioned I find another type of advertisement, the book shelf corner. In that section reviews of the books are given. In every issue they have a maximum of 4 books & each is allotted with 1 to 2 paragraphs space. No line says buy this in any way....

So for me this marketing tactic is very interesting!!!!

Yes, I agree with your point of view Fatima. "Marketing" does not necessarily involve a persuasive message to buy a certain product.
Products can be promoted through many other unique and captivating techniques. For instance, in your example the books are being advertised through interesting reviews. As far as books are concerned I guess the typical format of advertisement might not be that effective. There are many other products advertised through the sdame kind of medium, e.g. "Review", a weekly magazine published by dawn, has a special review section for the latest movies and videos.
Thus, in my opinion, its the nature of the product and target customers on which the style and mode of advertising a product depends.
