So is viral marketing basically a part of stealth marketing?
Can anyone please explain this to me..
This is the master blog for both sections A and B. All students are required to post here at least twice a week as a group. The more meaningful your post, and replies to others' posts the more marks you get towards your final class participation grade.

Yar I dont think that viral marketing is a part of stealth marketing as word-of-mouth approach is not always manipulative. However stealth marketing can be a part of viral marketing as it is mostly carried out by word of mouth.
I don't think so it remains stealthy if you choose a word of mouth approach. Take the example of the movie Ghost rider where Nicholas cage was riding Harley Davidson bike, showing it as rough, rugged or punkish style. This was a basic example of stealth marketing carried out by Harley davidson. As far as i believe stealth marketing is more effective if carried out "action" approach.
in viral marketing u target some individuals; though they r small in number yet they know they r being targeted
in stealth markting individuals do not really know they r being targeted; unlike viral marketing where individuals know they r being targeted no matter how small the number is
hence stealth marketing is not a part of viral marketing
therz an open conflict
True you are targeting some individuals, but those individuals are in turn targeting other individuals without their consent. For example, a doctor is subscribing me a medicine. He subscribes me one which has been marketed on him by a firm. As i am the victim over here, dont you think it has been done by stealth?
yes in that case it is stealth marketing..And what ive learned from the discussion is that if u implement viral marketing alone it can end up in stealth marketing but if u implement stealth marketing alone ul find no traces of viral marketing
hence stealth marketing can be called a part of viral marketing but viral marketing cannot b called a part of stealth marketing.
what do u say?
